Today we are looking at some of the most upscale neighborhoods in Cary. There are so many great reasons people love to live in Cary. The many fantastic upscale neighborhoods in Cary is one of those reasons. We can’t cover them all, but today I wanted to focus on some different parts of the city so you can see what each area offers. I also wanted to do a nice combination of new construction and existing homes, so you’ll see some of both. And if you’re not familiar with Cary, you’ll learn a lot about each area surrounding these neighborhoods as well, so even if this isn’t your price point, you’ll still get some great info.
As far as price points, an upscale community is usually in the top 10% of homes by price. In Cary that means over $1.1 million at the time of this video.
RIDGEFIELD FARMS
Ridgefield Farms Specs
But the first neighborhood we’re going to is Ridgefield Farms. This is in west Cary, zip code 27519. Construction of this neighborhood started in 2018 and the last homes were built in 2020. The homes were originally built by Ashton Woods, Garman Homes and Taylor Morrison. Homes range from 3000 to 6500 square feet. The average lot size is about 1/3 of an acre.
Ridgefield Farms Location & Amenities
This area is a great location if you work in RTP or Durham. It’s not the best location if you need to drive to downtown Raleigh regularly. There are probably better spots that we will look at in a minute if that is where you need to be. There are some great amenities and homes out here in 27519. You’ve got the Parkside Commons shopping center nearby with Target and Whole Foods is right around the corner. There are also TONS of greenway trails out here. Look at all those green squiggly lines on the map… all greenways. One of the biggest requests I get is a home with great greenway access! You’ve got Thomas Brooks Park and the USA Baseball National Training Complex, Cary Tennis park is around the corner and you’re only 15 minutes from Jordan Lake for boating, water skiing and hiking.
BLAKEFORD
Blakeford Specs
Now we’re going to head over to Blakeford. Blakeford is a pretty small upscale neighborhood in south Cary, of only 12 homes. 6 have been sold at the time of this video, and 6 more lots remain. Most of these lots are just under a third of an acre. Homes range from 4000 – 5000 square foot, but these are custom built homes so there is a lot of flexibility in design available. If you want more information on these or any other custom built homes opportunities in the area, feel free to give me a call.
Blakeford Location & Amenities
I really love this location in south Cary, zip code 27518. You can find homes for sale in zip code 27518 here. Honestly, all the areas I do videos about I really like. If I don’t like something, I just don’t do a video about it. That doesn’t mean that if I haven’t done a video about a place that I don’t like it….it might, but maybe I just haven’t gotten to it yet. Anyway, I really love anything off of Penny Road, which is where this is. This is less than a mile from Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve, right around the corner from Koka Booth Ampitheatre and Waverly Place.
CHANDLER COVE
Chandler Cove Location
Next we’re going to Chandler Cove. Now this location is aaaaallll the way down in South Cary, but look at the map here. This is zip code 27539. There are some really beautiful homes in zip code 27539. BUT…this really should be Apex.
And here’s a point I want to make. When you’re searching for an upscale neighborhood in Cary, don’t search by the specific town name. Do a map search. Because this area down in here, it’s a complete crap shoot whether the home will have a Cary, Apex, Holly Springs or even Fuquay address. This is like no mans land down here.. And I bet a lot of the decision about what city the property is part of is more based on which town can get water run and since all the towns have some kind of presence here, it’s less about city lines. So this neighborhood is Cary, the elementary and middle schools are Cary schools but it’s zoned to Apex high school, which is totally fine, but again, it’s not Cary.
Anyway, I also love this location because it feels like you’re going for a drive in the country. This is an area where you’ll often find a lot of larger lot homes, many of them are on septic systems. The really cool thing about this is it’s about 4 minutes from the new 540 interchange. Once that highway is done, I think that is going to help some of the congestion in here and shave some time of the commute for many people driving into RTP.
Chandler Cove Specs
These homes sit on lots that are just under a third of an acre. They range in size from 3500 to a little over 4500 square feet. Again, This neighborhood is kind of in an area that feels rural, but it’s just outside of 3 different towns. You’re 12 minutes to downtown Holly Springs, 11 minutes to downtown Apex and 10 minutes to the Regency area and Waverly Place. Right around the corner is Crowder County Park and Kraft Family YMCA. There is both a Harris Teeter and a publix a little over a mile away. And if golf is your thing, you’ve got Knights Play, a public golf course 7 minutes away, and Devil’s Ridge Country Club 9 minutes away.
CARY HEIGHTS
Alright, now we’re going to swing around and head north into to look at some homes for sale walkable to downtown Cary. The area we’re going to is one of those areas that is really turning over… This did not used to be one of Cary’s upscale neighborhood. This is what happened in North Hills over the last 10-15 years.
Cary Heights is an older neighborhood with many very small homes originally built in the 50’s, some in the 60s up through the 80s’ The proximity of these homes to downtown Cary is what is driving the value of the land up. People really want homes that are walkable to downtown Cary and these are absolutely incredible locations.
There is actually a neighborhood elementary right here in Cary Heights and it’s a little bittersweet for me doing this video because my youngest son who is 15 now, went to Kingswood. It’s a Montessori Magnet school and Ms Sherri is the principal over there. It’s a really good school. I might have shed a tear while filming this video. Anyway, they are tearing down these tiny little homes and replacing them with homes ranging from 2500 – 3500 square feet. Now these homes are similarly priced to everything we’ve looked at so far, but the homes are smaller and the lots are smaller as well, ranging in size from .15 to .2 acres. What you’re paying for is being walking distance to downtown Cary and all the restaurants and bars and amenities that goes with that.
WESSEX
Wessex Specs
Next we’re going to check out another older upscale neighborhood in Cary NC. This one is located in North Cary, and this is truly one of my favorite parts of the city. Homes in Wessex range in size from a little over 3000 square feet to about 6000 square feet. Being an older neighborhood has its advantages with the beautiful mature trees, and larger lots sizes. Lots range in size from just under a half acre to over an acre.
Wessex Amenities
The other incredible thing about this neighborhood is the greenway access. You can walk everywhere from here. Wessex also has incredible proximity to SAS and to Umstead park so it’s really popular with bicyclists and outdoor enthusiasts.
