Downtown Apex Restaurants offer plenty of delicious options for dinner, dessert and coffee. The quaint small town atmosphere makes for a pleasant experience.
Downtown Apex Restaurants: Main Course
Downtown Apex Restaurants: Salem Street Pub
Salem Street Pub is family-friendly tavern in Downtown Apex. They serve pub-grub, local and imported brews and…wait for it! Moonshine! Yup, it’s the south… Visitors LOVE the burgers and there are some wacky varieties like the “My Wife said it would never sell burger” and reviewers say don’t knock the peanut butter burger before you’ve tried it.
Salem Street Pub is a mainstay of downtown Apex. It’s been around a while and it isn’t a surprise with the fantastic food and service.
Downtown Apex Restaurants: The Provincial
The Provincial is extremely popular and it’s a smaller restaurant, so reservations are definitely a good idea. The farm to table menu rotates daily but it’s always excellent. The brussel sprouts and salmon are popular favorites, they have a great selection of wines and local draft beers. They also have a decent selection of local beers and a few ciders in the bottle.
Anna’s Pizza
I’m not from New York, I’m from Florida…you know, the other (Southern) New York. Actually, my mother is a New Yorker, who moved to Florida when her parents retired down there. So I guess that means I’m a New Yorker once removed? I don’t know if any of that gives me any authority on New York Pizza, but to me, Anna’s Pizza is New York Style Pizza. And it’s delicious! Crispy and chewy and folds over just right. Everything is made from scratch, even the mozzarella cheese!
Anna’s serves pizzas whole or by the slice. And they have the full complement of Italian dishes including pastas, paninis and calzones.
La Rancherita
Known for their fajitas, margaritas (by the pitcher!) and chips and salsa (free, served hot out of the fryer!) La Rancherita has been called the best Mexican in Raleigh, hands down. La Rancherita doesn’t have a website that I could find, so you can’t see their menu, but don’t miss their drool-worthy photos on Facebook.
Scratch Kitchen and Taproom
This Apex favorite is a great place to get scratch made southern favorites with a hint of international flair! Where else can you choose from Shrimp and Grits, and Jalapeno CornBread or NC Bahn Mi or Bibimbap? Whether you’re in the mood for a burger or something more exotic, guests say the food and service at Scratch Kitchen and Taproom are consistently amazing.
Taste of Levant
If you’re looking for authentic middle eastern food, this is the best place to find it in the Triangle!! Taste of Levant is a food truck in downtown Apex, located at 410 N Salem Street. This is actually a Food Truck Park in downtown Apex and there are multiple trucks parked there. There are picnic tables outside and even fresh flowers. The food is INCREDIBLE!
Frasketta Romana Pizza
Frasketta serves a unique and authentic Roman style pizza crust. It is made with Italian flour and locals rave about how fresh the ingredients are. The website says to order in advance which shows you how popular they are!
Downtown Apex Restaurants: Coffee & Dessert
Mission Market
Mission Market is part gift shop, part coffee shop and part sandwich shop. They serve coffee, smoothies, acai bowls, paninis and of course, avocado toast. They also have a nice sized bakery case of cookies, bagels, muffins and sticky buns.
Fresh Local Ice Cream
Fresh Local Ice Cream sources their milk from local, free range cows. They’ve got great southern flavors like Georgia Peach and Banana Pudding…who doesn’t love a good banana pudding?? Watch out for their big, green Ice Cream Food Truck around town!
Common Grounds Coffee & Dessert
Not to be confused with the Common Grounds Coffee located in a church down the street, Common Grounds Coffee & Dessert (I guess Nutella Cheesecake makes the difference) is located in Downtown Apex. The coffee is excellent. They’ve got ice cream if it’s too hot for coffee….how is it sometimes too hot for coffee, but never too cold for ice cream?…maybe that’s just me. Again… Nutella Cheesecake. Not much more to say about that.
Mr. A’s Beignets
I don’t think I can say it better than the reviews of Mr. A’s. These people are so overtaken by the love of a square doughnut, they wax poetic…
“The beignets were like sweet pillows of goodness that just melt in your mouth.”
“Each square pillow of sugar powdered fried deliciousness is edible joy.”
“For the 1st time I tried one of these delicious pillows of heaven.”
This reviewer was left speechless, but she sure tried…
“Words cannot express the joy & deliciousness.”
Get thee to Mr. A’s Beignets.
Mr. A’s is a food truck usually located at 400 N Salem Street. But check their calendar before you go and for other locations on the weekends, in particular.
