1. Colorful Kitchens…
Is the monochromatic grey/white finally going away in the kitchen? Maybe we’re getting bored or maybe there aren’t enough variations in color for the decor companies to encourage frequent updates, but it looks like we might see a bit of color in the model kitchens of 2018.

Black Kitchen?
Darker, more dramatic colors will be seen in kitchens in 2018. Look out for deep colors such as charcoal grey, rust, deep purple and yes, even black will be acceptable in the 2018 kitchen.
You can see more examples of darker kitchen trends from Elle Decor where I’m noticing a bit of an art deco vibe…

2. Mix and Match Kitchen Design
In addition to dark, rich colors in the kitchen, we will also be seeing more mix and match cabinets in the kitchen…

3. Fixtures and finishes…
Hello, 1985…. Don’t throw away those brass fixtures yet! They might be the next “mid-century” fad, selling for high dollar at thrift stores and resale shops! We’ll be seeing brass in home decor as well as kitchen and bath hardware and fixtures.

You might also see custom leather-wrapped hardware finding it’s way into kitchens in 2018 along with dark colored countertops.

4. Paint Colors
Behr is sticking with a fresh, clean color for their 2018 pick. In The Moment is Behr’s Color of the Year for 2018. It’s not quite as bold as some of the other striking color choices below, but it communicates well the feeling of mindfulness they hope this “cool, tranquil blue” will give your space this year.

Benjamin Moore’s “Caliente” is daring and strong, imparting bold energy into your home for 2018. And while Caliente is certainly a strong color, Benjamin Moore’s 2018 palette offers plenty of options for the softer side if bold isn’t your thing.

Pittsburgh Paint’s & Stains chose more muted colors for the year, with their chili pepper providing a red option that doesn’t pop quite so much.

Olympic Paints is going hardcore with their choice of Black Magic as their Color of the Year. I’m curious to see how much this black fad will find it’s way into our every day lives and homes.

And finally, Sherwin Williams stunning choice… Oceanside. A jewel-toned, blue-green is definitely my favorite. Although, I don’t know if I’ll be painting my living room in Oceanside. I can definitely see some accent pieces

Did you know that the color you choose for your bedroom can affect your sleep patterns? So choose wisely!
5. Furniture
Geometric patterns are all the rage this year and you might see this trend both in custom made tiles and in furniture like the piece below.
